SANDRA VUNGI

Lihtsast luksuslikuni”. Samuti on tal koostöös Austan Loodust grupiga  valminud omanimeline veganküpsetiste sari.

Last thursday, web magazine Femme hosted a cosy evening in a cafe named Kuusk Hernesto. The star of the evening was Sandra Vungi, who talked about veganism and food. Sandra has been a vegan herself for about over 8 years and has been promoting this topic in Estonia for over 6 years now (mainly through her food blog). As a big food lover, she also does training programs about vegan food and has even wrote three cookbooks. The last book was about vegan deserts. She also has her own named vegan bakery series.

Sandra on taimetoitlane eelkõige eetilistel põhjustel. Lihast loobumisel mängis rolli ka ligi 8 aastat tagasi nähtud film „Meet Your Meat“.

Sandra is a vegan mainly because of ethical reasons. 8 years ago she saw a movie named "Meet Your Meat" which opened her eyes about this topic. She also suggests to read a funny but candid book named "Skinny bitch".

Sandra thinks that food is a source of pleasure, but people could eat well even without hurting other living beings. Why does anybody have to suffer if it is possible to act differently? To prove it, she is writing a food and vegan related blog www.taimetoit.ee. From there people can find out that veganism isn't only about "cabbage and turnip". Still, even Sandra admits that vegans can also sometimes be too extreme. She thinks that the most important thing is awareness - you should think through what and how much to consume so that your organism has a balance. A lot of extreme cases have to do with the fact that people are not aware of what they are doing. In addition to vegan food, she thinks that it is also important to move and do physical exercises, to live a healthy lifestyle and think positively.
